ROLE SUMMARY

The driver is responsible for driving, maintenance of vehicles, detecting common mechanical faults on the vehicles, carrying out minor repairs including oiling and greasing, maintaining daily work tickets for vehicles, ensuring safety of vehicles on and off the road, and maintaining vehicles’ cleanliness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Ensuring the safe transportation of personnel and/or goods from source to destination as per instructions.

ii. Maintaining the vehicles and ensuring it’s in good working condition. and

iii. Keeping a record of the vehicle’s movement through the “Work Ticket”.

iv. Ensuring adherence to or observations of traffic laws (including use of safety belts, speed limits etc.).

v. Monitoring and reporting on the vehicle service and insurance schedule

vi. Ensuring the cleanliness of the vehicle

vii. Reporting incidents and accidents as soon as they occur as per the policy.

viii. Ensuring the safety of the vehicles by undertaking all safety measures as per the policy

ix. Ensuring reimbursement of the fuel card at the refilling level

x. Comply with laws, regulations, standards, internal policies, and procedures.

xi. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT

i. KCSE D+ or its equivalent.

ii. Certificate level training such as motor vehicle mechanic

iii. (Grade 1, II or III).

iv. Defensive Driving course completed.

v. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya

vi. Training in first aid

vii. Customer care

viii. Certificate of good conduct

ix. Valid driving license for the appropriate class

x. Good communication and interpersonal skills
